I know that I’m about 10 years late to the party here, but I’m really enjoying the series “Halt and Catch Fire”.

The theme - the development of computers, and networked services especially, in the 1980s - appeals to me.

The plot moves fast, with twists and turns, without feeling unrealistic.

The cinematography, and the 1980s sets, are just beautiful.

For me, it works really well.

The biggest downside, sadly, is a really big downside for me.

It’s so hard to buy on DVD.

I buy DVDs and rip them to put them on my media server.

But that only works when I can buy the DVD.

Season 1 is readily available in the UK. It’s not cheap, but it is available.

Season 2 was harder.

I ended up getting a second hand German edition, and using Handbrake’s audio settings to replace the default German soundtrack with the English soundtrack.

So more work, but not massively more than Season 1.

I’m now at the end of Season 2, and I’d love to watch Seasons 3 and 4.

Can I find them on DVD?

Nope.

I suspect that they might not actually exist on DVD.

It’s so frustrating.

Yes, I know that alternative sources likely exist.

I am willing to pay for the DVD.

This is the first time that I’ve had this problem. To date, I’ve always been able to get what I want on DVD.

I’m sure that it will happen increasingly, with stuff I want to watch released on DRM-encumbered streaming services only.

If you know of a source of “Halt and Catch Fire”, Seasons 3 and 4, on DVD, which will sell and ship to the UK, please do let me know.
