A 'thank you' table for people making deliveries
In early December, we put a small table by our door, with some bits and pieces for people making deliveries to the house.
It was meant as a pre-Christmas “thank you”, recognising that delivery people work bloody hard, and may not have time to stop for breaks.
What we did
We put a sign on the table, saying:
If you are delivering here, thank you. Please help yourself.
We put out:
-
tissues and wet wipes
-
drinks
-
chocolates
-
crisps
Overall:
-
still water was more popular than sparkling water
-
Monster was more popular than Red Bull (mostly, I think, down to our lovely post lady, who definitely prefers Monster)
-
Celebrations were more popular than Quality Street
-
crisps were not particularly popular
-
no-one took any wet wipes, but people took a few packs of tissues
Would we do it again?
We’ve decided to keep it going, for now at least.
It doesn’t need to be a seasonal thing, and delivery drivers have tough jobs year round.
We might vary what we put out - in the summer, if we are still doing it, I imagine that cold drinks would be welcome - but overall, I think we did reasonably well.
