Barclays is closing its Contactless Mobile payment services on 30 June

Grrr…

I got this message from Barclays a few days ago:

Hi Neil, we need to let you know we’ll be closing our Contactless Mobile payment service on 30 June. After that, you won’t be able to use it, but you can still use Google Pay instead, if you’d like to. Your Barclays team

This is a bit of a pain.

I was delighted when I found that I could use Contactless Mobile - i.e. payment from within the Barclays app - on my phone, as it meant that I could still pay using my phone without using Google Pay.

I don’t want to use Google Pay, and I’m not sure that I can use Google Pay (since I’m running GrapeheneOS) - I could be wrong, as I have not looked into this, as I don’t want to use Google Pay.

Sure, it’s not the biggest deal in the world, as I’ve got used to carrying physical cards once again (I gave up doing this when I had Apple Pay on an iPhone), but it is a nuisance. Oh well.
